Well done to those who took part in the first day of the Cavan Spring Development League on Sunday 10th February at the PeaceLink track in Clones. Turnout was small on this very cold and wintry day, but an enjoyable morning of athletics was had by the hardy folks who came despite the weather and the Innyvale contingent fared well.
Ciara O'Reilly finished fourth in her very first event for the club, the under 10 girls 300m and went on to throw 7.49metres in the turbojavelin event, which was enough to earn Ciara a silver medals. In the U11 girls, Gráinne Gilroy got off to a flying start in the 60m sprint, taking the lead immediately and never giving it up to take the gold medal in her first competition for Innyvale. Gráinne went on to take second place in the long jump, with a best jump of 2.80m, edging a close contest for the silver and bronze medals. In the under 12 boys, Zak Farrell battled to a though fourth place finish in the 600m and went on to finish in sixth place in his first shot putt event, sending the 2kg shot out to 4.59m.
Well done to all and hope you had fun! Day 2 of the Spring League is in Shercock on Sunday 3rd March

A cross country category was introduced for the first time this year and Ciara Smith was one of the first recipients of the award for her winning form in the U16-18 category, having won the gold medal in the U18 girls 4,000m cross country race in 2016. Alanna won the gold medal in the javelin at the Track & Field Championships as well as silver in the shot putt at both the Spring League and Track & Field. Fiona Finnegan won the club's fourth throws award of the evening for her gold medal in the turbojavelin and silver in the shot putt events at the Cavan Track and Field Championships in 2017.
And last but not least, having been nominated in numerous categories earlier in the event, the final trophy of the night went to Eadaoin Galligan for her successes in the sprints during 2017. Eadaoin won the 300m and took silver in the 100m at the Track & Field Championships.
Congratulations also to our other nominees Ava Collins (nominated twice), Hazel, Warren and Casey Mulvey and Oisin Kiernan. Innyvale's photo galleries are once again viewable following Google's decision to stop supporting the Picasa system we previously used. Photos from 2002 to the present can be found in our archive. Unfortunately the Google archive displays albums in a completely random order so if you are looking for a particular event you will have to route around a bit. Photos from 2017 onwards can now be found on our Flickr account, which will be kept up to date over the coming years.

We will be piloting a new adult running group starting this week for any local adults who wish to come together to run as a group rather than running solo.
Our first run will be this Saturday (1st Dec) at 9am in Kilnaleck. The first day will be to see what interest there is and there will be a feedback form to gauge peoples aims regarding types of training, distance etc and what days/times suits people going forward. We will try to group runners together with those of similar level.

Well done to Innyvale athlete Casey Mulvey who took part in the All-Ireland Secondary Schools Track & Field Championships on Saturday 2nd June in Tullamore. Competing in the intermediate category, Casey took on a throws double, aiming to win the discus and shot putt titles. In the discus, Casey sent the 1kg disc out to a distance of 35.38m to win the gold medal. While in the shot, she was able to throw the 3kg ball 15.93m to win her second event of the day.
And following on from this there were great results for the Irish team at the SIAB Schools Track & Field International in Grangemouth, Scotland with the team finishing in second place. Casey Mulvey represented Ireland in the shot putt & discus, taking the bronze medal & fifth place in the two events for the green jersey.
Well done to Casey & the entire Irish team.

Well done to Innyvale athletes Casey Mulvey, Fiona Finnegan & Lana Morton who took part in the All Ireland Track & Field on weekend of 14-15th July. Fiona & Lana both finished in the top twelve out of the countries best U13 javelin throwers with both improving their personal best by over a meter since winning the silver & bronze medals at the Ulsters, while Casey claimed two silver medals with second places in the U16 discus & shot. Casey broke the old shot putt championship record with her first throw, but such is the way of sport, she had to settle for second place as another athlete went even better in subsequent rounds to pip her to the top spot by 14cm. Well done girls, as ever the club is very proud of your achievements and personal progress.

The athletics season is well underway at present with schools and clubs competitions taking place at Ulster and National level over the past couple of weeks with many Cavan athletes in action across the various categories. The Ulster Track & Field Championships were split over several days with the first being held in Stranolar, Co Donegal with Innyvale AC Fiona Finnegan and Lana Morton both representing the club ably in the under 13s javelin event. The two girls have always been quite close in ability over the years and frequently trading places on the podium and this was no exception, with Fiona finishing ahead on this occasion, having been beaten at county level by Lana a few weeks ago. The girls threw very well with Fiona sending the javelin out to 17.77m and Lana close behind on 16.45m, earning the pair a well deserved silver and bronze Ulster medals.
Also in action in the under 16 category was Casey Mulvey. The trek to Belfast for her discus and shot putt events proved to be lucrative for Casey with two strong performances. In the shot, Casey won the event with a best throw of 13.68m, while in the discus, she again took the gold medal with best result of 29.43m. Casey also took part in the All-Ireland Secondary Schools Track & Field in Tullamore, competing in the intermediate category. In the discus, Casey sent the 1kg disc out to a distance of 35.38m to win the gold medal. While in the shot, she was able to throw the 3kg ball 15.93m to win her second event of the day. Well done to all!

Well done to all who took part in the Cavan Track & Field athletics today in Shercock, hope everyone enjoyed the day. It was a good event for Innyvale with all of our athletes earning a medal. Well done to Lana Morton & Fiona Finnegan who continued their long running rivalry in the U13 javelin with Lana beating Fiona out for the gold medal by a tiny margin of 7cm in their first competition with the full sized javelin. Zak Farrell had a superb run in the boys U11 600m, staying with the early leaders until the start of the second lap when he burst passed & went on to win by about 15 meters. Well done also to three young athletes in their first competition: Tynan Smith picked up bronze medals in the U9 sprint & long jump, and elder brother Fían came third in the U11 turbojavelin, while Bethan Stokes had a brilliant throw in the U9 turbojavelin to win the gold medal. And last but not least Casey Mulvey was the winner of the U16 shot putt.

The All- Ireland Indoor Track & Field Championships were held last week in Athlone, with Innyvale AC athlete Casey Mulvey representing Cavan in the Under 16 girls shot putt. The defending champion from last year, Casey prepared for the event with a gold medal in the Ulster indoors in February and carried her excellent form into the national finals. Casey's best distance improved as the rounds progressed until she passed the national record for this age group in the fourth round and then went even further with her fifth throw, adding 46cm to the previous best. The record now stands at 14.67m, a fantastic reward for the hard work of this dedicated athlete who was recently selected for the Athletics Ireland All Star award for County Cavan. Well done Casey!

The All Ireland Track & Field Championships took place over the last two weekends in Tullamore, Co. Offaly , with a number of Innyvale AC athletes taking part, having qualified by finishing in the medals at the Ulster Championships.
Casey Mulvey had close competition in the U15 girls shot putt, but her first throw of 13.61 metres proved insurmountable as she picked up another in a growing collection of All-Ireland gold medals.
Ulster silver medallist Lana Morton and Ulster bronze medallist Fiona Finnegan represented the club well in the U12 girls turbojavelin. Both girls steadily improved as the rounds went on, with personal best distances achieved by the pair. Fiona eventually finishing in fifth place with a best throw of 22.02m and Lana finished in tenth place on 16.23m.
Well done to all, great reward for your hard work and dedication over the past number of months.
