Training will finish up for the year on Tuesday 17th December and will return on Tuesday 7th January 2020. If anyone has not already done so, please give your contact number to Simon or Louise at training so you can be added to the club's WhatsApp group to recieve news on training etc.
Thank you to everyone who supported the club's sponsored walk on 3rd December. Regardless of the size of any individual contributions, thank you everyone for your committment and support of the club.

There will be a Cavan Sportshall competition on Saturday 19th October, starting at 11am in Breffni College Cavan. This is an indoor event for under 9 to under 12 age groups featuring a mix of running, jumping and throwing events, finishing with team relays and is intended as a fun, low pressure introduction to competition for new athletes as well as those who have been to many events before.

There are a number of coaching courses coming up in the next couple of months. Anyone interested in doing the course please contact Simon or Des. The club covers the cost of courses for our coaches.

There will be an athletics workshop in KIlnaleck Community Hall on Wednesday 11th September from 10am to 1pm, delivered by Athletics Ireland's regional development officer Dermott McGranaghan and focused on the Sportshall programme in schools.

The club extends our deepest sympathies to the family, friends and clubmates of Shercock A.C. athlete Craig Lynch on the tragic passing of the talented and much loved young man over the weekend. Removal Wednesday morning 11th September to arrive at St Patricks Church Shercock for Funeral Mass at twelve o’clock. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
May he rest in peace.

There will be a Level 1 athletics training course on 18/19th October & 1/2nd November in Shercock. This takes place at 6.30-9.00pm on both Fridays and from 10.00am to 5.00pm on the Saturdays. The club extends our deepest sympathies to former coach and committee member Lizzy Brady and her family on the passing of her mother Betty last Tuesday. Funeral to take place on Friday 26th July at 11am in St. Michael's Church, Potahee.

The Tailteann Schools Interprovincial Championshi was held on Saturday 22nd June in Santry and our very own Casey Mulvey represented her school St Clares College Ballyjamesduff at the event, taking part in the shot putt and discus. Casey had a quiet start to the discus, slowly building up to her best throw in the final round where she sent the 1kg disc out to a distance of 37.10 metres, which saw her take the gold medal. The 2019 Ulster Children's Games and Track & Field Championships were held at the Finn Valley track in Ballyboffey. Co. Donegal on Sunday 2nd June and our own Zak Farrell undertook the long trip to compete in three events. Zak finished in 7th place in the U12 shot putt with a best throw of 4.92 metres, and followed this up with a a solid mid-field result in the 60m sprint, finishing in a time of 9.83 seconds. Congratulations to club athlete Casey Mulvey who competed in the All Ireland Secondary Schools Track and Field Championships in Tullamore over the June bank holiday weekend. Casey was taking part in both the discus and shot putt, having qualified by winning both events at the Ulster finals in Antrim two weeks previously with throws of 13.67m in the shot and 33.79m in the discus. The 2019 Cavan Children's Games took place at the PeaceLink athletics track in Clones on a mild bank holiday Monday 6th May. The day featured a mix of sprints, distance running, jumps, throws and team relays for the under 9 to 13 age groups, with the club ably represented by an enthusiastic squad.

Innyvale has been invited to return to training in Kilnaleck and the feedback we have received has been positive on this. We will be training in the GAA grounds in Kilnaleck from next Tuesday 16th April at 6pm and will see how it goes over the next few weeks before making any final decisions.

The 2019 Cavan Children's Games and Track & Field Championships will be held in May, with the Children's Games (under 9 to 11s), U12, U13 and Masters Track & Field on bank holiday Monday 6th May at the Peacelink track in Clones. Adult races as 10am, children's events from 11am. Day 2 will feature the U14 to 18 and Senior age groups and will be at the athletics track in Shercock on Sunday 19th May. Congratulations to club athlete Casey Mulvey who competed in the All Ireland Indoor Track and Field Championships in the Indoor Arena at Athlone I.T. on Saturday 6th April. Casey was taking part in the Under 17 girls shot putt, aiming to defend her title from last year. She put in a series of strong throws in the early stages of the six rounds to take the early lead, with her third round throw of 14.75 metres proving to be the best of the competitive field. There will be a healing mass for Carol Kiernan, recently retired chairperson and 20+ year stalwart of Innyvale Athletics Club, this Wednesday 20th March at 8pm in Ballynarry Church, Ballymachugh.

The 2019 Cavan Spring League concluded at the Shercock athletic track on Sunday 3rd March. The day's action included a mix of sprints, distance running, jumps, throws and team relays with the club ably represented by a young and enthusiastic squad.

Well done to Casey Mulvey who took part in the Northern Ireland / Ulster Track & Field Indoor Championshis over the final weekend of February. Casey competed in the Under 17 girls shot putt in Abbotstown, where she proved to be the comfortable leader, sending the 3kg shot out to 14.60m, almost three metres clear of her nearest rival. There will be an Assistant Coaching course on Saturday 13th April in Sherock. Anyone wishing to take part please let Simon know as soon as possible so your place can be booked.
